    Hi All,

Fairly new around here - always browsed but never registered until now. Going to post some of my plant stories in the other forums today too :)

Im trying to find Wollemi pine seeds in the UK - or I can also pay for import if anyone is willing to do so.

I love the journey and hard work raising a tree from seed - planting something that future generations will see your hard work. The Wollemi is one of the trees I would love to grow.

Looking to buy small and large amounts - anything to get my going! :)

I didnt think Kew would give members of the public access to the seeds?

I always walk away if they make germination sound difficult.
I'm only slightly cynical as you all know,;), but if involves jumping through too many hoops I just get the feeling the seed seller is hedging their bets.
Stratification I can take, but the compost required for germination is rubbish, the compost for growing on, now that I can understand.
You can often germinate seeds in a plastic bag.

I sent them an email and they have me on their waiting list ! :) Thank you!

I always find it as a challenge - the harder it is to grow then theres more to learn and perfect your skills! :D

Well yes, but I'm really referring to the fact that many seed sellers suggest germination is difficult often to cover the fact their seed is not particully viable.
I've found fresh seed of most things germinates pretty readily.

Sent 12 emails to uk growers and 10 gave me horrible rude replies - been chatting to two lovely ones though but they don’t have any seed available as they use 100% of them (their germination is super low).

Also the one on Australian eBay is now over £100 on bids !! That’s for less than 100 seeds.

Would it possibly be easier to buy a small plant?

Yes that’s the plan - but I personally love growing plants from seed, ever since a child it gives you a degree of satisfaction knowing you achieved it.

I might buy smaller one and wait for it to mature (anywhere from 4-7 years !)

I’m planning to possibly grow in a controlled environment with ideal co2 and heated / insulated plus grow light. To speed things up a little. But I need to research what would be ideal environment for it first.

                    Hi Aden,

I am new to this board and have just come across your search for Wollemi seeds.
I have loads that I have taken from my tree.
                    Are you in England ?
I could post them if you are interested.

                    Andy.

                    Andy,

Me and my dad were talking about the Woolemi Pine. I did some searching and came across this thread. Are you still in possession of some seeds I could try to grow?

                    Hi Andy,

I am in the process of creating an arboretum on grazing land next to my house and trying to stock it with as wide a variety of species of tree that will survive up here (including all those native to UK). To keep the costs affordable I am growing as much as I can from seed and have been trying to get hold of Wollemi seeds (£85 for a sapling is a bit steep for me.....). Any chance of buying some Wollemi seeds from you please?

                    Cheers, Tony
