Wollemi Pine

Today was the first time I,ve ever seen one,wow what a living bit of History. I am now going to save up as they are very expensive,Has anybody got one???:D

 

Hi Slinky,we saw some for sale last month at one of the garden centres we visit.We heard about them the other year and I think they are from stock which was thought to be extinct but was found somewhere in Australia I think it was,but cannot remember the exact details.The plants we saw had their own certifiacte of Authenticity and a price to match:D

In a few years we will be using them as hedging, I'll bet.:D

i've seen a small one of those in an isle of wight nursery for roughly £100 although you can get them cheap for about £75.00 if you shop around

 

Seen them here also for £100, seems the set price.

 

Interesting story, but really its all very clever marketing, as its fairly easy from cuttings, hence every garden centre has a few.

Im with BM on this, if it was a tenner with the other pines/fir trees id not give it a second look, but with a tag of dinosaurs etc the world laps it up. The cage thing Kew did helps the story grow!

 

I've got one. (Didn't buy it myself I might add). My colleagues bought it for my 50th birthday (not sure if it was a hint about getting old)!
I've had it since last October. It's in a large pot and looking a bit sick. Yellow leaves look very unhealthy. Gave it some tomato feed yesterday. The book that came with it suggested this. Not sure what I'm going to do with it if that doesn't work.
