Any wood workers, green wood that is, on the GC? I have got some plans to make a shave horse, always fancied getting one and make a few bits for the garden and the Grand kids. I just wonder if anyone's either got one or made one and have any tips?

Thanks Martin I have a load of wood stock piled including a 2 inch slab of Elm 6 feet long from a pals tree he had felled in his garden, so I will roughly follow the plan I have. It's a bit like flat pack instructions, probably won't look like the plan when it's finished lol. I might do a photo series on it's manufacture in case any ones interested.

From experience, I can say that the one in the video is far to "light" to be a good one. The wood used is far too flimsy. I have some drawings somewhere of a proper one...I'll look for them and attempt to scan them if I can. No promises though.

I've got some plans that use a 2 inch thick base, which I happen to have, once it stops raining I'll make a start. 4 x4 timber for the legs, I'll need a crane to lift it. I might do what the guy in the video did regarding making the top removable so it can be used for other uses, even if it's just a bench seat.
