Woos Fight against the Vineyards

Sorry but I'm not following this, it sounds very complicated.
They want to build a visitor centre in a vineyard is that the crux of the matter, or am I missing something.

Its not a football stadium, is it?

 

I think it still looks peaceful.

 

I know these pictures they come up with are often misleading but it doesn't look too bad.

Is Access and extra traffic the biggest problem or just the building being put into the countryside.

 

If they were going to chuck up yet another housing estate I'd agree with you, but I'd rather see something like this than that.
We are all the same, we dont like change to familiar places, but things often do move on.

I'm guessing the loss of access for walking is not going down well, I can understand that, but ultimately I'm guessing they own the land.

So its not happening then???

I've noticed, around here anyway, that things are put out for locals to object, but this is just part of a process, the deal is mostly always done when it reaches this point and it will go ahead regardless of any input from residents.

On a smaller scale KCC wanted to close a road off near me and it was a 6 month trial, immediately everyone complained, but within a week of closing all new permanent signage went up.

Eventually the council had to admit it never was a 6 month trial and the road will be close permanently regardless of the consequences.

Its just not worth the public getting involved in anything, councillors and government out rank us all.

On the point about public consultation before development, years ago, a new wind farm was built just off our coast. It's close enough that it towers over the sea view. I'm sure there must have been a public consultation but I never saw anything about it.

Then a few years later, another wind farm was proposed. This time a hundred miles out to sea. The public consultation for that one was well publicised, probably because nobody would object to something they won't be able to see anyway.

I long ago reached the conclusion that while public consultations do happen when the law requires it, they do it in a way where those likely to object are unlikely to know about it.

 

You sometimes have to wonder.
I think many go in there thinking they will make a difference and change things but you cant buck a system that has run for the last thousand years.

They either fall in line or don't survive for long.
