Good evening @martin-f my friend it looks good fun,but I will have to get a permit:smile:

The PLA issues two types of foreshore permits.

              • Standard - allows digging to a depth of 7.5 cm
              • Mudlark - allows digging to a depth of 1.2m and access to certain areas prohibited to Standard Permit holders
To apply for a Mudlark Permit you must have held a Standard Permit for two years and have a record of reporting finds to the Museum of London.

Good evening woo thank you for the information,

Yes I recall something about permits, I think the first one can be applied for online and free, I'm quite sure I applied when I first started metal detecting,

Getting you eye in is the key to success and lots of luck, still there's plenty of history to find, its something i would love to do at some point, unfortunately i have a fair distance to travel to good tidal areas, from a few of your posts i think you are in a good spot :).

Good morning woo, looks like its changed then, the programme I watched (Mud Men)was presented by Steve Brooker/Johnny Vaughan

                    "Woo-hoo, found one,”

Steve Brooker: The mudlark unearthing the Thames' history

A quick google woo and it looks like the programmes are available online :)

Please keep me informed woo :)

I've found Georgian, Victorian and modern coins in the mud, plus a few medieval lead tokens and 3 cannon shells :)
