Wot plants will grow in complete shade?

As post says please we have a stone water feature sadly it looks like the frost has cracked the main water bowl its a large pice in three sections I Have had to move the water feature to make way for the Green House AND Need to find it a new home and use for it the only place i can find at the mo is complete shade its also under ever greens the water bowl is quite large and would look lovely planted up Obviously i wont be able to use the water fall on it but will look nice planted i have built a water feature lilly pool and intend to build a water wheel so no loss and will enjoy finding another use for it I Dont want to Throw it away or Sell it as its the 1st Thing i bought for the Garden and cost £395 Expensive plant pot i know but Hey Who cares We All Love our Gardens n bits n pices Its more Sentemental then anything thanks any help gratley Apricated :D

sorry to hear your large water feature has been cracked,

But two ideas i think you'll like, So here we go.

Idea (1)
used nice pebbles and fill the bowl with these and hten put the solar operated flat lights in the pebbles, (flat lights are the ones a lot of gardeners use in decking on the floor's "you can infact walk on them, so in your bowl they'd look good and provide a nice nightime soft light feature?

Idea (2)
If you want to use a plant that likes shade, what about "hosta" these look and smell nice?

I varigated ivy I grow one called gold heart its not over vigerous , plus lots of ferns ....... ask dim he has been looking lately for some

blooming craked what a pity , cant you reline it ??? Iam sure you can get a paint rubberised or sonthing to stop it leaking ???

Crocosmia will grow anywhere, and will give a contrast to the Hosta.
I would go for the old fashioned type rather than the 3'+ Fire Red version.
Bluebells and small Frittilaria grow naturally in woodland.

 

idea 1 sounds lovely :WINK1: the Misses likes the sound of that too i could even Angel 1 of the lights to light up the water fall altho it wont have water running down it!!! its a lovely shape in stone nice 1 for that thank you Moonraker

my camera is dead Julie i had a i phone and managed to flaten it im haveing new well new old pick up tommrow weather permitting got to go to london to collect it being as i bought Green house last week pick up this week and Gails car Died Monday so we have had to replace that @ £7000 so the saveings have been kicked the camera phone is on hold @ mo i will get a pic on when my bro visets hes got a i phone thats the only way i know how to up load pics as i am a pc :wallbang:

I like this idea too. But can I suggest a very slight variation.

Instead of pebbles, you could use the decorative glass pebbles. They are quite expensive but assuming the bowl isn't that big it would be affordable. Something like these:

Aqua Glass Pebbles

or these...

Mixed Colour Glass Pebbles x 100 (500g)

Then with some careful choice of lighting, you could mount lamps in the bowl, and pour the glass pebbles on top of the lamps so that the lamps shine through the glass. The glass would refract the light and might create a nice effect. It means solar lamps would probably not be the best option, but with some clever concealed wiring (low voltage of course) it could work.
