        Nice story, Folly Mon.

Normally we spend it by not leaving the house.

Wake about 8/9am (me and my parents) then my sisters come round during the day with their kids (ages 0-4, 4 of them) so it's quite fun seeing them open their presents.

Don't really drink much as I have to work on Boxing Day, though!

That is a very busy, and noble, day you have planned there, Nick; you and your OH have big hearts :wub2:

Last year I invited dear friends (6 of them!) over to share our day, but I was rushed to hospital two weeks before so that got cancelled and I had to have a quiet one at home. This year, I'd planned a quiet one at home: knew Mr Mum was working Christmas and Boxing Day so thought we'd have our Christmas meal on the Eve. Got that wrong  he's also working the Eve :wallbanging: Both boys will be predominantly revising for January exams (the pressure is really on them this season!).

So, my planned one has gone from "quiet" to "barely a whisper" :heehee:

We have December birthdays though so I'm hoping we'll have a bit of push for those instead.

Well Nick :goodpost:- how do I reply to that? Perhaps many of us have thought about voluntary work over Christmas but never got around to it - I commend you, giving your time to the less fortunate is the true meaning of Christmas.
Our first thought is 'it's a time to be with family and friends' and it sounds as if that is what you will be doing with your extended family - so many of us forget the true meaning of Christmas spirit. I know you will have a great day - enjoy!

I would love to do some volunteer work under the Christmas period, as well as from time to time during the year.
Unfortunately I still have children too young to undertake this project. But I can't wait to have the chance!

                      Nice one Nick :blue thumb:

My Christmas day will involve waking up with a very excited 4 year old @ god knows what time :dancy: lol
Then me cooking a special breakfast for the special one in my life (the missus)
Last year I did smoked salmon and poached and scrambled egg with a glass of Buck's Fizz !
Then off to the in laws for Christmas dinner.
Then back home putting all the little un's toys together and playing till he can't keep his eyes open no longer!

On Xmas morning we always take some specially prepared food out for distribution to local (and very often unpopular/misunderstood) needies who haven't been given anything else all year. So when we visit our plot to dig parsnips and pull leeks for our blow-out Xmas lunch, we always take something for them. And the crows at our plot always seem extremely grateful for all the stuff we chuck onto the shed roof for them every Xmas Day.

For us this year, it's going to be:-

Up early for our 3 1/2 year old to open prezzies, cook breakky of (prob) smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and a glass of Buck's Fizz.

Get lunch ready for us, the inlaws and me mam, and the evening time it's just my wife, myself and our 2 little uns ( which is a first so going to enjoy the Xmas night telly!!)
