      I was stationed in Hong Kong when the 'run down' started and just happened to be in the scrap compound one morning. I spied a crate that was full of hand tools and the scrap chap said it wasn't financially viable to fly them back to U.K.

      Anyway. If the Spitfire parts are as well wrapped as those hand tools, they should still be in pristine condition - "Kick the tyres, light the fires and away we go".

      Cheers, Tony.

        It would be difficult to gauge what effect that amount of spitfires suddenly becoming available might have.
        At the moment, if you hear anything remotely like one overhead you look up immediately.

        Maybe we will all be saying, "yeah, its just another spitfire going over". :biggrin:
        But I doubt it.

            When I read that they'd discovered an 'old crate' it reminded me of those old Biggles books.

            I do hope it's a Spitfire, rather than a Sopwith Camel.

              Not looking so hopeful now::

              "Archaeologists hunting for World War II Spitfires in Burma believe there are no planes buried at the sites where they have been digging, the BBC understands."

              You beat me to it John was just about to post the link ! This is a tad disappointing when we were expecting a couple of Spitfire squadrons minimum . I think its time to call in Indiana Jones :snork:

                Kudos to wargaming.net for financing the dig - we need more philanthropic acts like this from companies.
