I have set up various Filters to get rid of the kind of Email which we never even open. So for example Bingo playing offers. I created a Filter named Bingo and put in the Subject box, the word Bingo. Ditto for the Body box. So why does it not filter out Emails which contain these words? Or any of the other ones I have tried to create?

Make sore you give it a title, and that in the drop down box's it says contain's

Did you change were the filter sends the email ie to the trash folder and click save

I bin messing with my filter, I think it will only take one word at a time in each box, so you will have to create a new filter for every word

You can also mark the email as spam, then it would go to the spam folder

Spent a bit of time playing

    open your filter page
    give the filter a title
put the word bingo in 1 of the box's, ie subject box (drop down box says contains)
then were you like your email to be sent ie trash folder
    click save

then do the same for the email body
    one word for each filter

don't put two word in the filter ie subject box and the email body box

you would have to create 4 filters for the word bingo in each of the box's

    Hope this helps

That is exactly what I have done and this morning there are 36 Spam messages all containing words in the Title and the Body which I have put in the Filter. So, to be exactly clear, I have a filter called PPI, in the Title box I have PPI and in another Filter called PPI2 in the Subject box I have PPI . There are 6 Spam Emails offering to deal with PPI for me. I could go on as I created 12 Filters to deal with various unwanted mails. None of these Filters have so far worked.

I think the filters only move the emails from your inbox to, lets say trash folder when they come in, not block it

They don't even do that. The Unwanted emails stay exactly where they arrive in the Inbox. The Filters are supposed to send them to Trash, but they have no effect. I have tried Yahoo Help with no sensible answer either.

I think these work in order down the list of filters until it matches one, does that, and stops (goes no further). You don't have any other rules before these rules that would be matching it first do you?

Thanks Shell, that is indeed what seems to be happening. The first Email goes in the Trash, then nothing that arrives after that. Seems a daft system if that is the case.
