Yams

    Anyone here grow yams in England? My wife is craving them (she is from Brazil) and I have only ever seen them for sale in London.

    Suggestions welcome!

    I've been growing Dioscorea babatas for quite a few years.

    Its considered to be hardy and from Japan apparently, so its probably not quite the same as the ones you are looking for.
    I dont think the more tropical kinds are considered hardy.

    I must dig up a tuber some time and see what they are like.:D

    Hi Manteur,
    I originally bought some of the small stem tubers from Chilterns.

    If your interested I could sent you a few, but you'll need to keep them through the winter and plant next spring.
