A very good morning and happy new year to everyone. I hope today's weather is not an indication as to how this year will proceed - its heaving down outside! Deep joy!
I would like to wish you and yours a healthy and happy 2025 and for all our gardens to look resplendent!

We didn't see the new year in but I heard some fireworks when I was getting ready for bed.

I'll dismantle the tree today then finish cleaning the sitting room.

Is anyone doing a new year flower count? I don't think I have any flowers out. There are a few daffodil and snowdrop shoots. I'll check this afternoon when I go out to plant my tulip bulbs.

Happy New Year to you all.

I cheated @Busy-Lizzie and did it yesterday in anticipation of horrible weather today. I was right, it's very wet and very windy so not going out.

My New Year Day flower count is 14 so I'm quite pleased. I do try to have winter flowering plants to enjoy at this time of year. My first snowdrop came out a couple of days ago.

I was going to suggest you potted up your tulip bulbs in the warmth of the kitchen if it's big enough to do that. If you use plastic pots, you could then dig holes in your garden when you come back and just drop the pots into them. Later on you could plant them properly.

My kitchen will be very cold while we are away @lizzie27 as there is no heating apart from the wood burning oven. I'll be doing the Norfolk flower count on Saturday!

Good Morning all, and Happy New Year! I too was surprised at no posts this morning, until I twigged there would be a new one. Duh.
Very dull and grey out. No plans for today, but we have had our usual celebratory breakfast of pancakes. Beef in red wine for dinner today.

I’ve just cleared the tree (small potted tree) and decorations away. Just a few tins of festive biscuits and some candles left out for now. Feels like a Sunday as I’m off duty and will do a roast dinner later.
