    Does anyone out there ever use their copy of the Yellow Pages that is delivered each year? Mr Kandy was saying that now we have Yell.com on the computer we don't really need one.

    We actually have the Yellow Pages,Thompson Local,Two phone books,one for the town where I now live and one for where I used to live {swopped by a friend for my previous years copy}We also have a local directory of buisnesses which I hardly ever look at.

    To me it is more stuff that is cluttering up the place and would like to hear other peoples views on the subject.I find if I want the number for anything I get onto the net and for friends etc look in my phone book.

    I actually recycle my Yellow Pages and phone books into my compost bins mainly because the recyclers won't take the old Yellow Pages,{don't know why though}

    Each year I pick up the new Argos and Tesco's Direct cataloges when they come out but all these books seem to be getting heavier with each new addition:(

    I pick our up off the doorstep the day they are delivered and put them straight in the recyling bin. That goes for all of the directories and free papers we seem to get pushed through the door.

    Because I work in Lettings, we have contractors we use for everything. I tend to ring them when we need anything doing as I already know their quality of work and prices.

    Anything else, then yes I would search on the internet.

    You can opt out of receiving yellow pages. Mind you we did it and still got one :lollol:
    so I do what we all do and recycle it as soon as it's received.. Crazy world isn't it.

    How do you opt out of getting them?

    I get the yellow pages and a thompson local which has both domestic and commercial numbers,it's madness.

    Mine just sit on the shelf and only ever get used for take away (and that's only once a month if I'm feeling flush) numbers but have now found a nifty site with all the local ones and their menus so are now redundent and if the pc is off there's my touch ot blackberry to go online with. Mine and my neighbours go in the recycle bin when the new ones arrive.

    A waste of good paper I say.

    "Easy ways to save paper. Thousands of trees and tonnes of paper are used to produce telephone directories. You can now opt out of receiving Yellow Pages by calling 0800 671 4444."

    I don't use either, Living were I do I'm on the border between the Gloucester directory and the South wales directory therefore finding anyone local in either is a lost cause.

    Thankfully there is a locally produced and published residents handbook that actually contains local businesses.

    BTW, I frequently get yell ringing me up to try and sell me business advertising, Ive got to give it to them, despite both writing to them asking to remove my company from their mailing list and giving each salesperson a mouthful they still call!! Persistent but perhaps they just like getting hung up on!!!!

    We can't even recycle them here - they count as paper and the council only collect newspaper and cardboard. They're very specific about NO DIRECTORIES! Grrr.
