Yellow patches on soil

    Hi guys I'm new to all this vegetable growing malarkey so here is my first question of many to come :) :) .please could anyone shed any light on what these yellow patches on the soil of my tomato plant . Many thanks

    Looks like some form of Crustose Fungus to me, couldn't tell you which one though.

    Thanks for the reply :) Will this damage the plant ? How can I rectify this or stop it from happening in the future ? Thanks

    From the pic it looks like its just taking advantage of the soil conditions, don't think its interested in the plant.

    Off the shelf fungicide should take care of it. Its not easy to stop fungi coming in, the spores are omnipresent in the atmosphere and will take hold anywhere that has the right conditions.
