My compost bin seems to be full of rather corpulent yellow slugs. Forgive me for being naive, but should they be there? If not, how can I get rid of them organically?

I am a vegan, so my compost bin contains no animal-origin food remains.

    Many Thanks,

    Roberta Farr

Yellow slugs ring bells in my head...I think I read something about these this week in a gardening paper I buy.I will have another look for you. Do they have a tiny shell like form at their end? if so they may be a rare type of slug that feeds on other slugs here in Britan. However it dies if it eats poisened black and brown slugs that have come in contact with slug pellets. Therefore yellow slugs have now become a very rare site in this day of heavy chemical cures,so you may have a rare creature in your compost bin.
