I have a minature orange climbing rose which has suddenly developed yellow leaves. The others seem okay so I don't think it's all the heavy rain we've had of late.

    Could it need iron?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Lol Yes It could be a shortage of Iron,First pour 5 litres of water on the base of the rose.I would then pour a mix of 5-8 teaspoons of Epsom Salts to half a litre of water, then pour this over the same spot. [IMG] That what I do with all my Roses.Hope this helps.

Hi, woo, my beautful feathered friend. I hope you're well and comfortable in your nest with Mrs woo tonight?

Now, as to my sad yellow rose leaves ... I have iron pellets and dead sea salt. What should I use do you think?

Sleep well, woo, your mother-in-law will probably give me grief in the night.

Could also be black spot - on a rose this size. it sometimes shows as just yellowing of older leavees, rather than the familiar black spot. Especially on things like minature, or patio roses.

Pick the yellowing leaves off, and destroy - washing your hands afterwards. Then give the rose a feed with general purpose fertiliser, and a bi t of a drink, and see what happpens

    Hello, Fran.

It's actually the yellowing of the new leaves mostly, perhaps I should have said this first.

Yes, I am picking the yellow leaves off and this plant is not next to the others. They had a good drink last night as it rained all night.

Hi Lol You could try either one .But Roses with
Yellow leaves can also be short of Magnesium very similar symptoms,Are the leaves just at the bottom of the rose or all over.Mrs Owl has put me in the spare nest on a temporary basis, because I hooted at the Mother in law. [IMG] [IMG] :D

Poor woo, but I hope you're comfortable there! [IMG]

The yellow leaves are dotted here and there. It's a miniature climbing rose that has itsy, bitsy orange flowers no bigger than a pinky fingernail and up to 60 blooms per cluster so I don't want to lose it.

Hi LoL,if it is Iron Shortage you can rectify it by applying Toprose Fertiliser,if the leaves have a large covering of yellow. On chalky soils use Sequestrene.

Woo,sorry to hear you are giving your mother in law grief. You should respect your elders [IMG] :D

Not sure I can get Toprose here, Kandy, but have blue pellets, a general all purpose and Algoflash.

I certainly do not have chalky soil here, I'm red clay!

Send her back to her fold here, woo! :D

Hi,sorry to hyjack but i`m having a similar problem with this climbing rose. The leaves are going yellow and also very brittle. Not all but dotted about including new leaves.I give it loads of water and recently some rose food.It doesn`t seem to have affected its growth as it`s already hit the guttering on the shed wall.(it was just covering to half before spring) The back yard is a sun trap till about half past 3 in the afternoon.Could it just be sun scorch?
