Yet another idea

I've been Freecycled! I am a natural hoarder and have to restrain myself quite severely to avoid ending up like the people on TV who can't get in their houses for 'things' piled waist high....
Freecycle appeals to all my worst instincts, and I blame GC for introducing me to it. :D
ANYWAY, I have aquired 11 beautiful white/cream marble tiles about 15" square . I also have the ornate cast iron base of an old singer sewing machine, and thought of making a table-top with 6 of the tiles. What should I use as a base, and how attach the tiles to it?
This can then be filed with my list of things to do:
Lay brick [also Freecycle] along new border
Plant border
Sort barrel pond out
Cover Belfast sink with hypertufa stuff and fill
Put up pergola[ cheap wooden]
Think some more about hexagonal cloche
