Stayed in all day today, awaiting expensive electronic goods promised courier today
There were three of us in the house and after 15:00 all the lights on, and the door bell works

Tonight I got an email from YODEL saying parcel tracking your parcel was delivered at 16;55
Left with neighbour and Card put through your door, Thank you YODEL

Well no car or Van has been in the Culdesac today, they have to use my drive to turn round to get back out
No card through the door and all neighbours know nothing about a parcel

Now I am panicking not just for the monies but the Crimbo pressies I have not got

There is "one" neighbour, and if it HAS gone there then I stand no chance of getting it back
Though that does not explain NO CARD in door or bell rung

Unless I'm thinking of another company, Yodel is the one that uses private freelance couriers using their own vehicles, so no uniforms and no branded cars/vans. It could me me wearing jeans and t-shirt in my 16 year old Volvo that turns up. (well it couldn't, because I don't work for them but you know what I mean).

Still if I'm thinking about the same company, their tracking system is based on estimates of where the driver is rather than anything actually confirmed, so is it possible then that the driver couldn't find/couldn't be bothered to find your house, decided to go home and try again tomorrow, but didn't want to lose out on commission so simply updated the order status to say he'd done it already?

You're spot on clueless - I've had a few deliveries from Yodel where we have received a tracking email stating that it has been delivered and signed for, yet clearly it hasn't been, only for it to be delivered quite late in the evening or even the following day. The private couriers often sign for the goods themselves which makes it look as though they are uber-efficient (presumably to get more work), and I'd suspect that very few people will actually complain about the discrepancy as long as their goods arrive.

I had the same. Thankfully my sister works for the sender of the parcel that was allegedly delivered to me, signed by a name unknown to both myself and everyone else in the village. She said her company phoned Yodel, gave them a stern telling off, who then told their delivery driver to go and collect my parcel from the random property he'd taken it to (without checking name or address on the parcel...) and deliver it correctly. When he delivered it to me the following day, I asked him if he worked for Yodel; he told me that no, he didn't, he'd just been given my parcel to deliver... He'd tried to hide his bright green and yellow liveried Yodel van around the corner in the hope I'd not realise, when in fact my house bends around same corner and I saw him walking back to it. I also saw him driving past me when I was out walking Reggie the following day. So incompetent and liars. I've told the sender I will never order from them again online if they continue to use Yodel. My sister has since told me that they get lots of complaints from customers about Yodel. Before I contacted my sister, I phoned Yodel customer 'services' who said I'd need to take up my complaint with the sender, as although it was their stupid driver, they couldn't do anything.

Sorry for going on, but the parcel contained a Christmas present, and when I discovered on the evening of the day it should have been delivered that it had gone who knows where, I admit to getting a little tearful, maybe more out of frustration but still...

        Thanks for all who replied
Clueless 1 and FC were both correct thank goodness

I spent quite a while on the phone tracking it down, eventually got through to a YODEL real person
Parcel that was delivered yesterday to my neighbour appeared in a battered old car this afternoon by a YODEL person ?

Join you in the tears Ellen, I spent one long stressful evening and night, with my head full of IF's and AND's that I could have well done without

        Cheers all

Glad your delivery arrived safe and sound Jack

To be honest, I feel a bit sorry for the self-employed couriers that work for Yodel - we have a regular chap who comes from them, quite obviously it is a part-time occupation in his retirement (I'd put him easily in his 70's); he is such a lovely fellow, and has gotten to know all of us in this street, so knows that if one of us isn't in one of the others will take delivery and pass it on. I was kinda hoping to see him on the last orders I made to give him his Christmas tip, as he has never let us down yet.

            Exactly
            I have had almost

one year of it since April, and was so relieved when the final hurdle was completed with the gas central heating on Wednesday, an end to nine months of depression, then Thursday the hassle of expensive goods missing all due to an incompetent courier

The couple who took delivery for me even said to the courier Look it is that house all lit up at the end of the street, but said he had been there and it was not, they took the parcel in, but could not bring it along that night as they were Genuinely on their way out

I am going to cross my fingers and say well that is the end and a new beginning :-)

I have also had health problems with my heart, some dodgy valve and blood clots, Again from April, they put me on Warfarin
From day three I had a muscle problem, severe pain, and each fortnight I have been and just got stronger and stronger pain killers
Previously I was pain free but obviously a dicky heart,
I saw the consultant on Monday and stated I want off the Warfarin and would rather have a pain free six months then pass on, rather than four years of pain
He agreed to a six weeks off the Warfarin, Hey it is five days now and the pain has almost gone, still painful but I can now walk again

This past week has turned me around (Thanks to Ziggy's luck Badger)

For Crimbo I bought my wife a Boots Ultra U7 pack £134 they insisted it was now £32 :-)
So I went to her favourite physio centre for a £100 gift voucher and they insisted that tonight only it was TWO for ONE :-) £132 for £334 gifts

Third time lucky I might buy myself a camera lens with the change

I am still duty cook for Crimbo dinner, but as I have done it for the past 45 years it should go OK

Jack....... with all the issues you've had to deal with this year you will certainly be looking forward to a better new year. I hope it comes good for you. :)

Also, although it's not my business but with respect, I think it's time you had a word with your family about lightening your Christmas load. Even if your Christmas festivities were celebrated in rotation round your families homes year after year it would help you. :)

Have a good one! "huggy santa"
