I have aquired some 1"x1" steel box section.
    That is,4 lengths @6' and 14 lengths @3'.
I want to make a feature for the garden, an arbour or archway or whatever. I was wondering if anyone had ideas.
This is the area I would like to site it.

    Like the "aquired", Pal! :D

Will think and sleep on it, and see if I can come up with any ideas. Are we looking straight out to the public path past your house? So if you wanted an arch, would it be out on to that?

And if you wanted an arbour, would it be where your bench is, if that's the best position for catching the sun? In other words, how much is set in stone already, and what's movable? I'd guess you've probably got the bench where you want it!!

How about a flying swan sculpture? Off the wall I know - but with a bit of shaping and welding------

Have seen some wonderful steel sculptures and arches in a local garden, but they look much better when they rust.

The picture is too bright to show the arch already there.
    This one shows it better.

I did wonder if a low arbour over the bench would not look too twee.

Of course, I remember the arch, and can see it in the first picture now!
I like Fran's idea - but I'd go for a peacock, rather than a swan, and have it strategically placed in different places for all the future grandkids to discover!

The Iris's are Sibearian, and they look like "Perry's Blue", but I am not 100% sure until I check my books.

Love the garden Pal :D is that your house in the background or have you just borrowed it?
