I got to eat my own home grown food tonight, firstly peas which were so delicious I eat them straight from the pod (never eaten raw peas before) and strawberries which were so so so sweet!
I'm hooked, growing your own food is an amazing buzz! :snork:

:) it is great stuff! I remember eating the same when I was little, when my grandad grew a load of fruit and veg. My peas are just sprouting :)

Home grown is infinitely better. I love freshly dug taties, boiled with a bit of fresh mint and some butter. This year I haven't actually grown any spuds though, so I'm having to make do with old ones from the farm up the road.

I haven't even started any peas off yet this year either. I'm pushing it now, but I reckon I can still get some.

I fully intend on growing more veg, but it'll likely be next year now, unless I can grow things out of season, in the conservatory, to make it a makeshift greenhouse?

I'm going to start my second batch of peas off in the greenhouse tomorrow, ready to plant out once I've harvested these. I've also got potatoes, broad beans, red onions, garlic, little gem lettuce, rocket, spinach, sweetcorn, mixed leaf lettuce and herbs throughout the flower beds. Looks like I'll have lots of yummy stuff to look forward to

You could try some leaf beet (often mis-sold as chard). 'Bright lights' and 'Rainbow' chard make colourful additions to the garden, and they seem to be evergreen. I did some last year and it is still going this year.
