I thought it might be nice to have a thread like this where we can share what else happened (apart from gardening) and any thoughts, ongoing situations/emotions etc.

(I scrolled back to see all the thread titles for this year and found nothing that would cover this topic).

Today something fairly remarkable happened to me. I used to be a singer/songwriter (in the last century), performing in clubs. That all tailed off as it gave way to other creative outlets like writing poetry and then doing stand up comedy. So music, which was my main passion (for about 2 decades) took a back seat. So much so that I hadn't even taken my guitar out of its case for 22 years! I just hadn't felt like playing.

This morning I woke up with the song "fly me to the moon" playing in my head. It's a gentle, jazzy number and I recall how it felt playing it. I also had one of my songs playing on my mind too. They provided the incentive to finally get the guitar out of its guitar case! Seeing it again after so long felt like reacquainting with an old friend.

I was pleased that the strings didn't break (after so long). Of course I was very rusty and clumsy but....early days! [IMG]

This is a nice idea for a thread Rosebay.. Going to have to have a moan though.......

My day started well until I went out with my dogs only to find that our local group of mindless vandals have been about again...!!
They stood and mindlessly smashed bottles against the railway chimney... This chimney is in the small childrens play area and swings......!!!!!! What on earth posses kids to do this..???
Then in a wildlife area they set fire to the long grasses there..!!!!! I just don't believe todays kids... This is a tiny village for goodness sakes not a town or city..!!!!!!!!!

Do any of you have wanton vandalism in your areas..???????

I dont really like milk or yoghurt im a little weirdo when it comes to them so have them once in a blue moon if that. didnt want to buy some just for the challenge for it to go to waste so yeh. Im honestly amazed how well the dark chocolate buttons helped tho. Wonder if having cheese after would help as well but im not eating another chilli to try that out lol

Wow...smashing glass is one thing but to do it in a childrens' play area is unforgiveable and sinister! They are obviously bored and doing things for kicks. Not much in their area activity wise? YMCA or would kids mock at that these days?

Re. wanton vandalism in my area...ha, well I have a disturbed neighbour who has targeted me (for over 11 years) with trespassing my back garden (despite new, higher fence etc), trashing and vandalising. She holds a grudge over something minor that occurred in 2004 so what she does to me is largely unprovoked, unless you count reporting her which inflammes her further. She can't be reasoned with (rants hysterically). I have posted on this elsewhere; co-starring smashed garden chair and pots, death threat, killing a rose bush with bleach, going to mum's house, local (when I was a carer there) and doing the same things - but I caught her and she backed off for a year (got a council warning).

Luckily I have a positive mindset and don't have a victim's mentality. [IMG]

Oh dear Rosebay not nice.. We used to have one like that here, she died a few years ago now but she was a terror she didn't just stick neighbours though she picked on several in the village over the years..

I had 4 car ariels snapped.. my first plastic cold frame and a plastic greenhouse she slashed to ribbons.. I caught her doing it.. A terrible commotion.. She used to pinch my milk so I waited for her one morning.. My next door neighbour has 2 bricks through her front room window on 2 occasions, years apart.. She would report anybody for anything.. She used to shoplift in the vilage shop so was banned from there... She stole flowers fruit and veg from your garden if you didn't lock your gates... Plus she had a nasty nasty tongue in her head as well... She really was a nightmare... I could go on but won't as she is no longer with us, but it got more and more difficult as she got older.. Lived at home till 92 spent a week in hospital after a fall and never came home.. Sad really but that was our WW for you....!!!!!

We are not quite as small as that anymore Jiffy due to a housing development the council gave permission to in their infinite wisdom a few years ago now..

Mindless vandalism? Seems to be everywhere... Don't get me started!

                        Anyway....

Well, today I've not done that much, apart from the obligatory walking of the dogs. I was very pleased with my girl who sat and gave me attention, rather than respond to the large group of dogs walking past off-lead. She feels that she needs to tell them to keep away (my re-home lad is vey dog-aggressive, and kept on a lead at all times when off the property).
The "top" man in the dog walking group going past was quite impressed too!:yay:

Then a bit of shopping (real customer service in Lidls - shock, horror! This is Belgium!!).

...and another dog walk with just my girl, and a friend with her goldie puppy. Izzy was shown up with the swimming though. The 8 month old swam like a pro, Izzy like a wuss, even when she stopped doing the puppy-paddle! Still, she seemed to enjoy it, going back in lots of times, and is now snoring on the sofa.:doggieshmooze:

Had a really hard week this week :phew:....juggling work, training programs, visitors, cooking, entertaining, baking a Birthday cake, celebrating, mowing the lawn and dead heading between.:thud:

I only have tomorrow to do some serious gardening :spinning: as sailing from Southampton to France at the weekend and back again so hoping for some good sailing weather (will be glad for the fresh air and relaxation)

Back on Monday, training on Tuesday and more friends visiting Wednesday and Thursday and back to work Friday

After that I'm hoping life will get back to some normality as I have 2 project in the garden that ive started and itching to get finished.... And I really missed catching up on GC ..... :)
