We show pictures of flowers here, but its now autumn and the time for seeds. So how about showing us some of your seed heads.

This is the seed pod of Datura (Thorn Apple), and you can see how it got its name. I think the seed heads are just as beautiful as the flowers themselves. The heads are a good size being about 2 inches in diameter. Its an annual that grew to 5 feet for me.

Nicandra physaloides(Shoo Fly). Another annual and close relative of Datura. My tallest also grew to 5 feet. The seeds look very like those of Physalis (Chinese Lantern) - hence its name N physaloides.

Filipendula rubra has beautiful fluffy pink flowers for the 4 weeks of July, which is not that long. But it then leaves these architectural heads standing 5 to 6 feet high. Its a trouble free hardy perennial.

    Very Pretty Peter
Reminds me of a photo I took last year. This should be a nice thread.

Unfortunately I don't. We were traveling somewhere and went on a garden tour there. The shrub was all covered with these puffy stuff. It was very beautiful indeed. I remember there was a memorial stone about the first Pilgrim born at that site it was a girl, I think her name was Helen or something with a "H".
So if you really want to know it's name. You can google "first Pilgrim born in American and where, that will give you the location and then the garden is right there, so you could call them. Thats the best I can do. I most likely dismissed knowing the shrub because it would not work in my zone. But work a hunt.
