I planted my house Yucca tree into my back garden in Wembley before I moved to Derbyshire. It lived happily outside for the year I lived there after planting it. I don't know what's happened to it since with all the snow we've had in recent years.

Are Yuccas OK to plant outside?

There are Yuccas and there are Yuccas.
The normal house plant one, Y elephantipies is not totally hardy.
Most plants sold for garden growing are, ie, forms of Y. gloriosa, Y. filamentosa and a few others are.

As pete says the usual house plant yucca is Y elephantipies and generally this is not that hardy. But in London, if planted in a sheltered spot then it may well be ok. But with the snow and cold of recent winters it may well be a gonner.
