I agree with those who said cover with landscape fabric, even better to mulch or manure first. I have done that and it worked. There were far fewer weeds when I used the bed again and the soil had improved with the mulch.

@infradig Thank you for that article link, possibly answers a question I had which was given the known parsimonious of farmers and that glyphosate is supposed to be bound to the soil particles how come so much ended up in rivers.

The little arrow @Michael Hewett is called a cursor.

The Twig is just forming flower buds. Twig II (one of the cuttings from last year) is flowering and as it has a nice, straight stem will probably replace the Twig, whose roots suffered badly last winter. The other two are growing well, branching out but no flower buds.

Hello @adamadamant, I'm sorry I don't know what that disease/fungal infection is but it looks pretty dreadful. I think the same as ViewAhead and would cut out the dead bits asap and then see what happens although I suspect your plant's a goner unfortunately. Hopefully others may have some better...

Are your container measurements inches or centimetres @Cardiff Garden ? If they're inches, that's a very good size, but if they're centimetres [which I think will be the case] they aren't that big for having 3 laurel specimens in them, although I don't know what size your plants were on...
