Rats that are known/believed to have died from poison should not be composted; otherwise they can be readily added to the heap without regard. Best if the heap reaches 'effective' temperature, (50 deg C is sufficient)

That looks like annual grass so weedkiller is totally pointless unless there is still something effective like the old Pathclear that prevented seeds from germinating for 6 months. Read the tiny print on the labels...if the ingredient is pelargonic acid, save your money and time. Far better...

I'd agree to a certain point, burnie, but a heavy annual fall of leaves into a small, enclosed volume of water will lead eventually to an imbalance in the purity. Perhaps the simple answer is to prevent the leaves from falling in in the first place?

There are a few websites out there with moss removal guides that I had a read of last year as we had heavy moss, a couple below. I bought a kit from Relentless gardener and followed the guide. I took action on the rear lawn and didn't touch the front lawn as an experiment to see the difference....

I think picture 6 is actually a raspberry and not a gooseberry.The problem with waiting is you don't want to majorly prune anything when in active growth, some summer light prunning is fine but normally you want to do it when it's dormant. The other problem is that apples and pears are fine...

Why do you lift the bag out? I just put the bin out at collection day and they turn the whole thing upside down in their bin on the truck.

Thanks goodness it survived. It took months back then. Wooden planter is ordered, once it gets warmer, I will start doing it before I feel worse again in two weeks time.

I had one in a pot from a cutting my gran gave me, went same way in a pot unfortunately

Thinking about it, it looks like there were once more horizontal arms but only the top ones are left. I have found myself that the upper arms tend to shade the lower ones and the sap tends to go up so the lower branches are less vigorous.
