Well, its not totally hardy, a hard winter or a cold position will kill it, or damage it badly. Especially, in a pot, if the pot freezes its likely to be the end.

Hithat variety is very tall also called skyscraper Lillie’s and yes only 1 stem from each bulb .that pot will be ideal , add some John Ines no 3 to the mix , that will stop the pot from falling over with the xtra weight it will give to the compostSpruce

So I bought that one on E bay, its totally useless, the mercury has gone up past the indicators and its not coming back down past them, so pressing the button and violent shaking has no effect, in short its rubbish.I tried contacting the seller but for some reason it appears to be impossible,...

I have a peach tree however the pot is too big to bring in over winter. This is what it looked like last year during summer. My understanding is that peach trees need cold to make peaches though this one has never produced a peach

Thanks will definitely keep them as they were the extra extra large ones which were quite expensive though I did buy them after xmas last year in the garden centre sale!

We went to see the millions of snowdrops in the grounds of Walsingham Abbey today.

You could wrap the tubs around the sides with mesh tall enough to accommodate the height of the flowering bulbs and cap this with more mesh. Not aesthetically pleasing but a possible solution.

Thanks for your input everyone. I've had a play around with this border and come up with the following...There's the area under the Amelanchier which is still bare and looking for ideas for underplanting this (yellow highlighted area). I will probably leave a good portion around the tree bare...

I think you point out the problem. Just cutting down every ash tree, and god know what others, is not going to help to find resistant plants. Its typical overkill IMO.But I get your point about the one blocking your light.
