Melons ?
the one we call luck really is called hot summer ....or even a normal summer .those are melon grown in UK as melon need water try a seed in one of this as well.

Shall I ditch the garlic and grow something else instead?
Thanks for the reassurance guys. I'll hang on in there then. I've kept the soil moist and they're in a sunny spot so hopefully they'll catch up once they appear.
