By the way, if you just want your own apples, you can strike cuttings from named varieties and grow them on their own roots. The main reason for rootstocks is to control the size of the tree.

Here is a tip to get your apple trees cropping evenly every year. As they finish flowering next year, pinch off the flowers on every other spur. Do it every year and you will get steady crops...

yep these are oudoors . my toms are about 10 foot away is it likely to spread? ive been growing toms in the same spot for 5 years with no probs ,have not got room for crop rotation

Elephant Garlic
I got my Elephant Garlic from the same place as Kandy, except I bought them as eaters rather than the more expensive seed bulbs. A couple of them I split up and planted, so far they have been rust...

Thats a real puzzle Brian - it would be a shame to give up though, maybe next year grow just a couple of toms and use the extra space for the stuff Kristen said in post #2.
