My guess would be pigeons. They can strip plants down to the ground between sunrise and you getting up in the morning.

Thats great, I'm sure they will do great. I have the same peppers growing too, as well as some Bhut Jolokia's.

I split a box of spuds with a chum ... he's planted his a fortnight ago (without chitting), mine are chitting in egg boxes - stems are about 1/2in long (if that) ... these are Bintje (?) earlies ... will plant them out no matter what length the stems in a fortnight! Good luck with your tatties...

I grow lots of spinach over the year - I sowed my first small batch last weekend - but they will get planted in the greenhouse border in a couple of weeks time - I think its a little early for them to be outside just yet.As soon as I transplant them I make another sowing in seed trays....

To be honest the propagator is not even switched on as its by a bright window in the utility room. It does though protect seeds and seedlings from our 2 cats that insist on digging into any area of uncovered soil. Perhaps cling film or freezer bags and elastic bands will do the trick. Will then...

Thanks Hel,It was always a worry as to how I could rotate my crops because I tend to grow large quantities of these on my allotment. Unfortunately, my allotment, which I inherited, is mainly raised beds which have many advatanges but a big disadvatage in limiting the size of the areas...

Hi Sky Yes its normal for spinach to have pink stems and yes its ok to eat them, i find the baby leaf spinach you buy in shops ok for salads but if i want spinach with a hot meal the "tougher" spinach is far superior

I always used to wait until mid April before planting toms in an unheated greenhouse and make sure the plants are strong and hardened off.By that time although the nights are still nippy they are relatively short.I'd say 10C at night is fine, a bigger problem is a prolonged spell of dull...

don't prune for a couple of years and see what happens as you could well be taking out the flowering bits
