Hi coub, usually from this time of year I gradually take the leaves off below each truss as the toms start to ripen so, by late in the season, there are no leaves on the bottom half of the plants....

I agree, commercially they remove leaves once the fruit are set and large to reduce shading to promote ripening but this half wit seems to suggest denuding the plant early before you even have any...

Hi V & F man. If they are earlies, then I`d wait until the flowers drop off then dig one up (that`s what I did). I found that the first one or two roots produced smallish (but delicious) spuds....

Hello vegpatch,you can keep a caully for up to 3 weeks if you take the lot out the ground, shake the soil off the roots and hang it upside down in a cool shed.:thumb:

Assuming the " groups " are actually crowns, what I would do is continue cropping for as long as possible. Then in the dormant season, I would lift ONE and cut it into 4 using a very sharp knife....
