can i plant potatoes in pots now or am i too late
Drawing up the soil around the foliage of the plant so that the potatoes stay buried. If it's done as the plant is growing it should encourage side shoots from the main stem to produce more potatoes.

Have I just killed my potatoe Crop?
You wont kill them but its not something thats nessesary. Most potatoes get tall and fall over, its normal. Leave them alone, they are maincrop so wont be ready until sept as you probably know.

Thanks for replies. Glad you said the green stalks were ok as I'd given most of the first crop to cheer up a neighbour who was a bit miserable about something.
