Harry, very high for summer heathers....too high.
Why not get some ericaceous compost and plant them in a pot? The MF wont make any difference as far as that is concerned. Not sure MF has much...

What ive found with soil/gravel S look at it work out what you need then double it
.A pile of loose soil soon flattens down to nothing, Soil spread and walked on to flatten it down no soil...
