I had one last summer and the same one is flowering again now, never noticed if it flowered in winter, another sign of climate change, plants getting confused.

Take cuttings Silu. If those layered stems are large they wont be great to re plant. For conifers I tend to take heel cuttings and then trim them but most cuttings will take well right now.

I've got a couple too, I think mine were used for fruit juice. I just gave them a hose out before use.

The tube test kits are simple and reliable. It's those cheap meter thingies with a long metal probe that are a waste of money.

Spreading petunias are trailing petunias but in a slightly different form. If planted in the ground they will spread rapidly sideways but if planted in a hanging basket they become 'cascading' or 'trailing' petunias. The main difference is that 'spreading' petunias don't need to be deadheaded...

Dont hold me to this but I believe you can as JWK suggests get timers off ebay quite cheap that supposedly will work of gravity. To avoid debris blocking drip feeders I would eg connect a water butt to normal hose via battery timer and say 1 minute each day to top up the water tray the plants...

It is frustrating though when you've waited all year for something to flower and then it gets drowned/battered/scorched/sangliered..insert catastrophe of choice I've just practiced what I preach on a Ceanothus near my pond. The frogs are looking a bit stunned by the sudden influx of daylight
