To put an electric fence round our garden would come in at about £500 and that was for second hand stuff too. We have a long perimeter. And with the hedges and shrubs round the edge it would be very difficult to install.

Barring the temporary hiccup mentioned in this thread I've found them to be extremely easy to grow from seed (planted indoors) - most of mine germinated in only two days.Good luck with yours.

Hi stephen I must admit I didn't know grafted varieties were available, they do sell them at my local garden centre and they are quite often seen in gardens, but I thought they were cuttings, mine were grown from seed.If I dont hand pollinate, I dont get fruit, maybe there are self fertile...

@CharlieBot Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I used them a few years ago and my plants arrived as promised, they were well packed and grew away well. In fact I've still got them all.

Hi Harry,I just think it's a case of if it's a tall, bushy flowering one ( eg catnip ) its a Nepeta and if it's a trailing non-flowered one it's a Glechoma nowadays.

Is it a problem for you that it's dropped or can you take the hit? Do you just work on turf or do you do anything else?

Let us know how it goes Ariadae, I have read about restricting water to improve flavour but I'm worried it will seriously reduce yield and weaken the plants so they are more susceptible to pests & diseases.

I'm meant to be concentrating on the house seeing as we've not long moved but due to the nice weather I've been gardening a bit. I've got this huge expanse of grass that I'm dying to dig up and I'm constantly tempted to order a load of plants as an excuse to get my spade out!
