Daisybelle, I bought an evergreen clematis in B&Q today-It's called Avalanche and should have white flowers in spring only so not as freeflowering as montana but at least you get some colour all year..

It depends on what kind of Iris it is. If it is tall Bearded Iris I don't let them go to seed. I usually remove the spent flower stalks and then take the foliage and make a fan shape out of them about 6 inches above the ground. In general I let the other types alone.

Ignoring the names, I like to keep a note of the newer shrubs in my shrubbery. The paulownia has the large leaves centre shot. Paulownia tormentosa's eventually flower when mature, but by this stage the leaves are that much smaller than if pruned annually. The flowers appear before the leaves....

Don't forget to keep trimming, them, top, front and sides, all the way to the base, so you get plenty of thickening out of growth, GP!

Pond liner sounds a very cheap method of making the roof waterproof. You cannot of course nail or screw anything through it as you will lose the waterproof integrity, but the sheer weight of decking on top will keep the liner in place. But I would add bits that overhung the edge downwards to...
