If you want a long bloomer with daisy-like blooms what about Coriopsis?Certain Campanula and Penstemon species bloom for a long time and are hardy. Likewise Salvia greggii and S.microphylla.

The flowers can be a bit sparse and don't stand up to rain very well, as Pete says and also can be prone to collapse from root diseases.Like Zinnias they need a good Summer. I used to grow a few...

We don't have Dandelions here ... or they are a rarity. You can buy seeds for them however to cultivate as Jack says.

On my Dahlia canes I use plastic drink cups, as eye protectors . They are dark brown so don't look too bad - then again they don't look too good . This was following a tip on here a few years back...
