Chobart,as far as the Acacia is concerned, once they are through their first winter outside they are usually fully hardy, and at 10ft tall I would say that yours has had more than 1 Winter outside. The Catalpa ( Indian Bean Tree) should also be fine. David.

I'm a great believer in the flame gun burn off all the top growth of weeds you may have to repeat the process a couple of times, it kills the weed seeds gives immense satisfaction non chemical.

There are about six more plants similar to these. I have included another 2 photos. Most of the new growth (which isn't an awful lot) is usually at the top and nothing at all at the bottom. Also a lot of the plants start off copper in spring but turn a greenish hue. web page

Well I don't know what type mine were but they certainly weren't weeds! they had enormous dense dusky pink flowers, they were fab!

Madc it`s not the gym you`d need it`s a physiotherapist. Decking would be an easier option and you could tailor it to the family needs, ie, sitting area, barbecue or viewing area.Properly fenced off it could even become a play area for the children. David.

That is exactly the same looking kernel as the corn which is grown round here as animal feed. It is ground up for use and is no good for cooking.

If you know somebody with a landy and chains, that would shift them - I've seen it done, and it's very effective - and quick! :D

Hi Gem and Al, sorry we missed you. At this time of the year any grape vine can be pruned safely as long as you dont cut into old wood, (last years growth) and of course your not worried about getting any grapes. As far as I know, Brandt is more of an ornamental, so if its too big, cut it...

Pete, nice display, my plant is new this year, it was probably just under 1 ft tall, now its about 3ft, so hopefully should be ok this winter.

Thanks everyone for your help! At the moment we have 3 beautiful flowers open at the same time which is a record, and about 30 buds waiting to come out. I think the plant is ok, it's growing voraciously and looking very healthy, I just think as it's a brand new plant it may just need to settle...
