Gogs I'm having the same idea as you I would far better enjoy a plant as a gift than anything else jewellery doesn't 'catch' my eye any more, in fact that's what I had for my birthday from the boys plants instead of gems.I must say that going to the garden centre I'm like a kid in a candy shop...

Try again, Did you notice among the garden greenery it suggests you can use is Redwood(Sequoia)! You might have to climb 50 feet for the nearest branch. (I knew I shouldn't have cut my 200ft specimen down) :D

Thanks for these replies. The things I'm looking for are rather like poor-man's jardinieres! I actually found a few quite hideous examples in the Pound Shop today decorated with Christmas scenes (father Christmas, snow etc!) so grabbed a few and will tell tell the recipient to put up with them...

Cheng - you did so well. It is much easier for people in their homes, without any pressure. So often people in quizzes have to pass on a question, and it is obvious that it is on the tip of their tongue, but they just can't get it out in the time.

I had a Rhododendron in flower twice this year in the western isles (cunningham white) so again the seasons are all to pot however the best thing that i have found to do is NOTHING leave nature to its own devices and the plants will adapt. if your lillies are bulbs then by all means cut them...

I have sown sweet peas in my cold frame about two small trays about twenty plants put them in in early nonember and they fine about 6 to 8inch tall now and I have pinched the tops out hopefully they will give a good show next year

The annual show of Daffs on the 'Peanut Roundabout' Windsor started last week and flowering should continue through Christmas - it never fails to amaze me to see them flower so early and in the middle of a major road.......

Rather a late reply, but although Ilex Ferox Argentea is male, it isn't a good pollinator, and may well never do the job for your Golden King. Not too surprised about Gardener's World magazine getting it wrong, it usually has a few errors in it.

Yes Jean led's are expesive to buy but very cheap to run, many are geared up to garden lighting effects here's a few on...

Jean this is a recent tree fern thread which might be of interest. As Walnut says they do grow extensive roots when given the opportunity so get it planted but keep it out of the frost while its still in a transit...

Morning pip. That has made me laugh and started my day off well. I thought I was the only one who doesn't know computer speak ... I often have to ask people what they are saying to me.I certainly didn't know and couldn't figure out why people were speaking to me when I wasn't to them....

Email ronseal or look on the ronseal web site and see if the colour you want is available. Some places may not stock it but could perhaps order it. (I have never used it so dont know either way)
