Jack - thats very interesting. I don't think a short stay in the freezer will actually harm seeds. That's what happens in nature with frosty periods lasting several days or even weeks.Daisees - I presume you are talking about Verbena seeds. Seeds from most other plants don't need a cold...

Shouldn`t be too expensive. Should also be readily available at your local garden centre.

Which orchids Rydall? Hey I'm getting all your questions. We must have similar tastes and problems.

What is the best time of year to take cuttings of Photynia? I have 'Red Robin' and last year I took a few cuttings and none survived although one did take but later died when I brought it into the house. Perhaps it was too warm for it. Is there a special way to take the cuttings?

My woprmery never regained itself after I lost at least 50% of them on the first night - all over the kitchen floor. So...I may not be the best to give advice, but I do know that they prefer it damp! Mine came with a special mat to lay on top - but good thick layers of newspaper will work well...

Thank you Walnut, I will try that. Perhaps next month I could start taking cutting. Maybe for other shrubs too. I am not sure what basal cuttings are but I will check my RHS books for it.
