Will it survive?
I tied the Choisya up yesterday after pulling it gently upright. The roots are sound and I trod the soil back down to firm the hold. It's looking good apart from one branch which is touch and go...

Types of shade
I too have a North-facing border. Full shade all year round. The only thing that has thrived have been the Hellebore's , but after reading the above posts , this year I will experiment

Have I lost them?
Thanks Jenny and Harry. I must get myself a greenhouse and a shed then at least I won't be transplanting seedlings outside. I should have stayed indoors and made a mess in the kitchen!

Taking over care of a Garden
I reckon I spy tulips in a couple of those planters, so they will come back every year - no reason why you couldn't transplant them out somewhere, but I would wait until after they had died back...
