Sue, that's how my lilac originated from a growth out from the bottom of my neighbours tree. So have a go as long as you can get it out with some root on should do ok.

I got a new garden bench
What a beauty! Very posh.Can't quite make out the design in the centre of the backrest - looks a bit like Britannia!I can visualize this with two stainless steel square planters on each end...

Well its amazing that these things can survive at all here. I find sikki much later to start than basjoo, but its a better plant. I also dont think its as hardy as basjoo.
