Thank you,i guess i have been wasting compost and using too deep a tray to start off,its probably common sense when you know what you are doing.

I had one overwintered it in the g/house last year it did flower again, this winter put it in the p/tunnel I have a little caboos I built in there with a tube heater in, alas a couple of nights the heater couldn't cope with the cold and now its brown bread, the plant that is.

Trachelospermum aren`t the fastest growing climbers but stick with it, they are worth it. The Clematis could take over so keep an eye on them. Hi Nathan, I put up a row of canes and tied garden twine between them then fastened the sweetpeas to the twine. I don't think the cnes were really long enough thougheven tough they were 5'.

Here's a funny thing years back I caught my mum-in-law putting her bulbs in up-side down I had to follow along after her turning them the right way up...but we did have a good giggle about it and the bulbs did well in the end, funny thing was though shortly afterwards she when to get her eyes...

You have put your finger on it John. Why can't they sell us garden extensions, or packages of good weather or sky hooks or something useful like that. :D

I too ordered mine from DT Brown in early January they didnt arrive until the 20th February. so I will be using the no-chit method this year.I noticed in B & Q last saturday they had certified Scottish seed potatoes so I will give them a try next year.

I bought a little paraffin heater, just not plucked up courage to use it yet!! will that make my greenhouse warm enough to germinate them then?

Everything that has been said but just to add sow later for later blooms. If you have the facility to sow early, then do so but save some seed for later sowings. I regularly sow seed very late for autumn flowers. One of my favourites in the autumn is lavetera, that keeps going when the summer...
