I'd hope to have them in the ground within 12 months , we've just moved in last autumn so I'm not sure what to expect in the way of winds throughout the summer. Cheers.

Thanks PG, I haven't seen anyone use the willow screening yet but rumour has it that it looks great. I'm just looking forward to the dappled shade in the summer with a G&T!

Basicly yes, To put it very generally you should be looking at removing dead wood and a few healthy long stems, and tieing in the remainder of long stems and reduceing the lateral shoots by 1/3.
