Hi tinkerbell, it could be that the plant is being attacked by Keel slugs. These are only about 12mm long and come out at night. Try putting some slug pellets around the plant and see what happens. David.

Can I just agree with geoff that you should dig out any deep roots you can find. I removed a sycamore 8 years ago. Earlier this year what re-appeared? Yep, a sycamore sprout. Boy those babies are tough. :eek:John

Pomegranate is fast in the right conditions, lemon is a bit slower, tends to grow in stages and takes a rest in between.

My 20ft high ceanothus tree has given up the ghost this year. As pete says, they are not usually very long-lived and most varieties only last about 10 years.
