Thanks rosietu - you have encouraged me. I do find quite a bit of bought seed doesn't germinate. I always thought it was me - and obviously some is - but I do think some purchased seed is not viable.

Mike I have used T&M for some time the last geraniums I got were well packed rubbish, doing my best to pull them through 2 out of the 12 failed already I have taken pictures as they were when I opened the packages, standards have definitely fallen.

Well that is how cold it gets along the shore but who can afford to live down there? We have extended periods of cold with a lot of icy wind which I think is what does in the Rhodies. There isn't any problem growing what we call 'ironclad' Rhododendrons that are hardy to about -20C. They do...

I once had a gunnera, now I have 3. Two are three year old self seeded seedlings and they never get above 2' high. I call them my gunnera minicatas.

Maybe when the other half fits the new tap, I can take the old one (identical) with me to B & Q and try them all for size!Thats the problems usually. In the shop you think its the right fitting, get it home and its not. Ive lost track of how many useless fittings we have brought :rolleyes: ...

Thanks windy I thought my bin would be no good as I didnt have right position in garden for it.Ive been busy gathering up all the stuff to put at the bottom only got small amount of grass, leaves, paper, and egg shells, just now but I will keep adding to it . Who would have thought Id get all...

I've got a few like that in my alpine bits, blue and yellow ones - they're so pretty. I also have the big, yellow ones that are good for cutting into flower arrangements (with alstomerias and penstemons for example).

I like rosebay willowherb, it can look stunning in drifts. I have loads of poppies in my garden this year - I love them. Another "weed" I like is red/pink/white valerian, it grows out of the shingle around here.I'm told the definition of a weed is a plant that is growing in the wrong place,...
