Cold hardiness zones in the uk
Walnut, thank you for posting. This is exactly what I was looking for. Since it is the system that I use here it is great information. The UK is even more mild than I imagined. I don't see my zone...

I have a feeling that if you decapitate the plant the top piece can be used as a cutting, and if left, the old root might well shoot out new offsets. But I'm only guessing, it usually happens...

Thanks Claire, I certainly agree about the yellow flag!I have looked up I. laevegata and I think "unpretentious" could mean "simple in form" it looks to be a no frills type but lovely.

Council Tax on "green" home improvements

Hi Boro Boy. I would suggest you plant them up with alpines, most of them are spreading and evergreen but, most importantly, are capable with putting up with some neglect. David.

welcome 5lbcod. Go to your local garden centre and get a box of Evergreen weed and Feed. Use as directed and your problem should soon be solved. After a few weeks reseed any bald patches. David.

Do I need to water my seeds?
It's perfectly ok to do the aerating of your lawn in spring, and it recovers faster from scarifying then too - but if you're re-seeding, you do need water if the rain doesn't oblige!
