I wouldn't worry, the first leaves of the season always look like that, not sure why, but I find it quite normal. If you've only planted it a month ago all the more reason, it should sort itself...

Thanks Noisette, this has been on the long list of things to do but now we have the time! It doesn't get too cold here but does get pretty wet. We'll import a load of soil/compost into the border...
