I have inherited what I'm told is a crab apple tree. From my view I would say it could benefit with a pruning. Would I be right? And if so, just where would I start with this tree?

HelloWe have a row of 6 established apple trees (20 plus years).each have gaps of about 3 meters and producing a lot of fruit. We are looking at what we can potentially plant between them we ideally would like to introduce fruit bushes but don’t want to cause any issues to the trees.

Good idea Pete to just prune a branch and wait to see what happens. I will go out armed with the loppers tomorrow, thanks.

I don’t plant deep at all but because of my climate I always have to lift them Usually the corms are still visible above ground with say about 3/4 of the corms below ground.

If they are not prepared to pay for the return postage plus rejected the discount, then my gut feeling is they have no intention of sending out a replacement. The 10% discount would probably be less than the cost of the return and sending out a replacement, unless the pot is very expensive.

Hi @Dutch02,Looking at your first photo, to us the retaining wall has been improperly finished or has someone removed an existing capping to allow that fence to be put up flush to the wall ?Those bricks and the mortar are simply too open and exposed and all the rain and frost will soon get...

To me it looks like there is a liverwort and some moss in the photos. I usually leave them grow away without interfering as they need damp to continue growing and without the same type of root systems that other plants develop they don't really compete with my cultivated plants. As older life...

Hi,The carpet or similar was used to stop any sharp stones puncturing the liner, so hopefully you have reached the bottom !You could fill the bottom with any stones you do not want to use and cover it with a layer of any old soil or sharp sand to fill in the gaps, but would suggest you try...

*update* seeds all planted I have used jiffy pellets ,, the seeds are tiny

@Sparkoman85 Whereabouts are you based? Are they planted in ericaceous compost or garden soil? I would keep them well watered, stand them somewhere shady and out of the wind, cross my fingers and see what happens. Once they are growing again you can think about getting them to bush out.

Morrisons have theirs in now as well. I have 4 which are now 3 years old and have lots of new shoots at the moment.

That is possible. It belongs to a friend of a friend so I can't be sure.
