Maybe the soil is too rich in nitrogen??

Looks like Bindweed

I took some 'cuttings' from Clematis Macropetala either spring or summer years ago. I pulled them off with a heel attached and pushed them into the soil of a planter outside and most rooted. Clematis doesn't need the special treatment that we are led to believe.

Just found a previous thread dealing with a 20 year old Montana which appeared to be dying in July so different to mine which appears to be 'death' in Winter! Drying out is a possibility but perhaps at this time of year is less likely and of course the other two plants are romping away though...

Glad you too @noisette47 have been successful with moving the plant. I would have thought it would struggle with your hot summers but maybe now you have given it nice “ accommodation” it will thrive. Noted re slugs and snails, mine has also been on their menu here too

If it's green under the bark it's still alive but may take a while to recover.

I do agree you need to get rid of the butterfly bush though it could adversely affect your greenhouse. Maybe take out all your seedlings and keep away from that area whilst you spray?

I keep a few sachets of sequestered iron handy for when I spot something going a bit yellow. The seaweed and iron is also effective. Ive used vinegar as well, as,Ricky says but it can be a bit hit and miss.A top dressing of flowers of sulphur is another way, but that is more of a long term fix.

Coming on fine, noticed roots appearing out the bottom of the tray but makes you wonder is it worth the effort when you can get a tray of 8 for £2?

It almost sounds like how yeasts are kept going for brewing.
