What can I plant in the greenhouse now?
Spinach is another toughy that you might try btw. You need to have started it a few weeks ago though as its too late to sow anything from seed now.

I'm with you now, tried to picture it but kept coming up with a picture of a staircase by Escher in my head. Thats usually a bad thing in my case.

Coldframe as well as greenhouse?
It depends on how many plants you plan to grow and the amount of space you have. Personally I use a couple of cold frames, that's not enough for me in the spring.Now is a good time to buy this...

Storing Autovents for winter
If its a Bayliss, you just need to unscrew the end nut until it comes off.Then the vent wont open, you can just leave the cylinder in place.

The polystyrene feels so warm at the touch that is is really tempting to use it as some sort of insulator. I stored bits of polystyrene for like one year, and eventually used some under the pots...

there are systems about where you could have a thermostat on a gas heater and it would only come on as needed but you would need power to the stat and ignition system,might be worth doing more...
