Seems to work OK Adam . Its not a showpiece lawn , Molly makes sure of that ,but it looks ok with zero weeds. If you have a large lawn it may be better to just go for "green" as Shiney can get a bit pricey feeding it several times a year.

I'd use a hoe - on a hot sunny day like today hoeing them up would kill 99% of them.

When the turf was laid did you water in the turf or did it dry out causing the turf to shrink? It's hard to see what's what on the patches, it looks like another type of grass but a couple of photos closer to show the patches will help.

I would say that it's done well and for the minimal cost it looks good. Just treated it with verdone then I'll fertilise again as its 6 weeks is up.

Damp day is a no no as the chemical need to dry on the plant. If you applied it while it was wet the chances are it's not had much success. Also check you have the right amount of chemical to water for use in a watering can.

If you post pictures other experience users will be able to tell you better about the condition of your soil.But the best solution is to add sharp sand to the clay soil to aid drainage. Which would require tilling in with the current clay soil.

If its dropped a few inches then I would...cut the grass as short as you can, scarify it if you have any dead grass etc, aerate it, top soil mixed with seed to level the lawn, then seed over the top and tread down. Water it twice daily for 2-3 weeks and you should see decent results.
